I love how when Joi steps out into the rain, it takes a few seconds for her software to start rendering raindrops on her skin. I love the weird revving noise in the soundtrack. I love that Mackenzie Davis is in this, if only for a minute. I love that the horse was really there. I love the “sync” love scene — I know Joi isn’t human, but even making the attempt feels like a triumph. I love that there is a shot in the desert that I am 99% certain is an homage to the Great Riddle Gate in The Neverending Story. I love the showroom holograms and how broken they are. I love that old bear of a dog. I love the final shots. And I love the way that Roger Deakins sees the world.
