I sent this email to Andy just after I started reading:
I understand this book is meant as more of an advanced work, and some of the later chapters do assume more knowledge than is covered in the first two chapters that review the basics, but the writing is still very concise. I finally grasped […]
Wow, now this is wicked cool. Thanks to the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, you can see what Station in the Metro looked like back in 1999, 2000, 2004 and 2005 (although that last one seems to be missing its stylesheet). There were two websites which preceded SitM back in 1996-97, but they were even more hideously ugly than the ’99 SitM, and shall not be spoken of again.
Speaking of SitM’s history, I realize that Ye Olde StationintheMetro.com just celebrated its 7th birthday a few months ago on 23 December. Or rather, it didn’t. Because I forgot.
I just laughed my arse off, listening to Rough Cut Lady, a parody of the Bud Lite Real Men of Genius radio ads. If you’re in the film/video post-production business, you’ll get it. It reminds me of several Executive Producers I’ve had to work with.
That’s right— The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. is finally being released on DVD! Huzzah! So, those of you with bootlegs, now’s the time to get rid of ’em. 😉
This weekend, as I continue my process of cleaning out my bins of decade-old papers and such, I came across Strida, which is an amazing little fold-up bike. Reminds me of some other cool bikes that break the usual street/mountain bike mold, such as this lovely recumbent from Bigha, and this electric bike from eGo.
Yes, I know it’s old, and probably apocryphal, but since I don’t want to keep the copy I printed out a decade ago, I’m linking to it here.
