  • Wooooo!

Finally, got the server back up, this time with Mac OS X, just the plain ol’ user version, instead of the Server edition. So, now I’m actually running my sites on software I legally own. Huzzah!

So, just a couple more changes left to the Apache web server config file (to add the other sites I’m hosting here), with a little digging into the tasty Unix underbelly of Mac OS X. Mmmm…

  • Station in the Metro is dead. Long live Boszko.com!

That’s right. Stationinthemetro.com is up for renewal on December 24th, and I’m letting it die. It has served me well over the past five years or so, but since I’m moving most of my personal stuff here, and my films are at Lookit-Intense… there’s just doesn’t seem to be much need for it. Taking its place in the lineup first quarter 2003 will be a hi-tech service site that I’m working out the details on, but for the moment is very hush-hush.

So, let’s everyone wish SITM a hearty Bon Voyage!

  • EYE-KHAN!

Well, I’ve figured out how to make category icons to appear next to my post titles, but I’m still working on making them appear in the category list in the right-hand menu.

In any case, I’m having a lot of fun figuring out this database-driven stuff. 😀

  • The Iconfactory

I am contacting the fine folks at The Iconfactory about using some of their icons for the blog, to denote segments of the site, such as the forthcoming “What I’m reading/listening to/watching Now” sections. The “Smoothicon” series designed by Corey Marion is gorgeous, even at small sizes, like how it would be used on the site. I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll get a positive response.

  • Yo

This is the first post on my new self-hosted blog. Many happy returns!

  • DVD Screen Captures

The very cool software VideoLAN was made for streaming MPEG over networks, but it turns out It’s also rather handy for playback of MPEG video from DVDs and VCDs… which is especially handy if you ever wanted to do an easy screen capture from a DVD.
