Here are two fun essays about communism in modern pop culture. They seem to be pretty tongue-in-cheek (or at least that’s how I’m taking them).

An excellent essay on the issue of gun control. I don’t know that I’ll ever own a gun, but I’m glad to know that decent people in the United States still can.

UPDATE: The author has done some editing to the prose, and there’s a bit more religion in there now than I’m comfortable with. I also realize upon reflection that maybe it’s not an "excellent" essay, but it’s still quite good, and worth a read.

UPDATE 2016-03-27: What a difference 13 years makes. I no longer feel this way. Revisiting the essay with today’s knowledge of how few lives are saved because of guns in public hands, and how many are lost because of them, I’m way on the other side of the gun rights equation now. America’s love affair with guns costs too many lives to be tolerated.

Beekeeper Cartoon Amusements: Comix by Jason Little. The "Bee" comic is amazing. I read straight through all the back pages, right up to what is currently a nailbiting cliffhanger (p.61). Read it! NOW!!
