  • Trying out MarsEdit

NewsMacPro has been really flakey on me lately, so I thought I’d register NetNewsWire, and I see they’re running a special if you get the bundle with MarsEdit, so I’m trying that out. I’m not sure I like it so much, though. There’s no real WYSIWYG to speak of (the “live preview” doesn’t count— I should be able to edit WYSIWYG text, not just watch it type out in another window), and at least WordPress 2.0 has that in the browser itself if you use Firefox (it doesn’t seem to work in Safari). I think I’m going to pass. But still, NetNewsWire has my vote. Thanks, Brent!

  • 43 Folders Series: Inbox Zero

Merlinn Mann has been doing a great series on 43 Folders this week called Inbox Zero, with tips on getting your email Inbox to zero messages. With having downloaded all the webmail from the last six months into my new laptop— now totaling 15,862 messages— I can use all the help I can get.

  • Podroll

I just wanted to make note, today was the day I coined the term “podroll” for your list of links to podcasts, playing off the previous term “blogroll.” Y’know, just in case I’m actually the first. 😉

    UPDATE

Okay, looks like I’m about a month or so late. But at least I came up with it independently. 😛

  • MacBook Pro Back in Action

Well, it looks like it was just the power adapter after all, thankfully. The guys at MBS left the MacBook connected to a known good power supply overnight, and eventually it charged up. Plus, I got my new power supply via Airborne this morning— and surprisingly enough, they actually rang the doorbell and handed it to my wife, instead of just throwing it at the door and running like they usually do. So, good news all around.

  • ICBM

Even better than Macintel, I am enjoying the new acronym ICBM— in this case meaning Intel Chip Based Mac.

Which begs the question: Is it really an acronym if you can’t actually pronounce it, or is it then just an abbreviation?  If so, is there another special term for those? (rummage). Well, looks like Merriam and Webster will allow it. Acronym it is.

  • WP2

So, yay! —upgraded to WordPress 2.0. Expecting the minions of hell to overrun my system any time now, but for the moment, it feels good, it feels clean. I hope the spammers aren’t drawn to its scent. Colophon’s screwed up, but… Meh. I’ll fix it at some point. It’s probably not even accurate anymore.
