Kaizen
I realized this morning, with all this GTD stuff, I’ve been expecting myself to change very quickly, and for the world to suddenly become a happy shiny place, all because I’m not just letting papers (and emails) pile up all over the place, willy-nilly. I don’t really need to turn my life around on a dime to be happy with my own progress. A little change for the better every day is just as admirable, and probably much more sustainable. And as Luis points out:
you improve a little bit each day and over the long run you’ve outrun the pack.
Wise words, indeed.

Guinness Surger

The Guinness Surger is a electrical device with a small metal plate on it; you pour a little water onto the plate, put a pint of the special Guinness Draught Surger Beer in place and then turn the power on, sending ultrasonic pulses up through the beer to create the creamy head we all know and love. If that sounds incredible, you really need to watch the video and see it in action.

Trying Out Ecto
Trying out MarsEdit made me realize it’s been quite a while since I’ve tried Ecto, a competing blogging tool, and looking at the new version, I think I like it. I really prefer the rich text editing area, but it’s also nice to have the option of going back to the HTML when I need to do something schmancy. I also really appreciate the iPhoto, iTunes and Amazon integration. For instance, right now, I’m listening to:

That’s pretty slick. Yeah, this may just be going into my arsenal. Still not quite as nice as seeing my words in my website as I type them, but at least I don’t have to be online to write.

Trying out MarsEdit
NewsMacPro has been really flakey on me lately, so I thought I’d register NetNewsWire, and I see they’re running a special if you get the bundle with MarsEdit, so I’m trying that out. I’m not sure I like it so much, though. There’s no real WYSIWYG to speak of (the “live preview” doesn’t count— I should be able to edit WYSIWYG text, not just watch it type out in another window), and at least WordPress 2.0 has that in the browser itself if you use Firefox (it doesn’t seem to work in Safari). I think I’m going to pass. But still, NetNewsWire has my vote. Thanks, Brent!
