  • Butterfly Photo

Over the weekend, I made an electronics purchase from Butterfly Photo, and this morning, I received an email asking me to call about my order. I figured it would be something like they needed to verify my shipping address, or it was out of stock or something, but no. It was just that they were planning on shipping it out today, and it should be delivered on Friday, and would that be okay? And also, did I have any questions about my purchase while they had me on the phone?

If the rest of their customer service is as good and personal as that phone call (even if it was I who had to dial the number), I can see why they’ve got such high ratings on all of the consumer sites. Can’t wait for Friday. 😉

  • Catalogue

In the interest of clearing out my bins full of paper goods, I present a list of my favorite catalogs, partially for my own reference, but hopefully also for your enjoyment as well.

  • NAB 2005 Day -1

This morning was the Apple “Special Event”, at which they reminded us of Tiger’s emminent release (with QuickTime 7, including 24 simultaneous audio track capture!), and announced the new versions of Final Cut Pro 5 (with Multicam and native HDV support), Motion 2 (whose most impressive new feature seems to be its ability to use […]

  • NAB 2005 Day -2

Well, it’s NAB time again, and that means Vegas, beh-beh! A short jaunt to Indianapolis and then a longer jaunt with my current client/boss out to Vegas, we met our third at the Vegas airport (another colleague), and proceeded to our hotel, the MGM Grand. Nothing much happening this night, so we grabbed some grub, […]

  • Pack

I work from home today… it seems now is the time strange women with their children gather outside the den window of my apartment to await a bus… that doesn’t seem to actually stop here.

Afternoon kindergarten, I would wager, but two school busses drive past them on the inner drive of the complex without stopping.

Still they linger, outside my window. Now more have joined the pack. Ravenous wolves, awaiting their golden yellow feast.

Another bus now, in the opposite direction. They alight. The crowd beneath my window disperses as the young pups clamber to their seats, and the driver pushes on into the gloom.

  • Small Children + Outings = Fun for the Whole Family!

Oh, did I say "fun?" I meant "illness."

I haven’t been online or talked to anyone (aside from a few fact-finding missions from the office) since late Sunday night now, because I have been seriously ill with whatever the rest of the family had last week. So many, many hours in front of the TiVo have been called for, and as a bonus, I am now waking up in the middle of the night feeling like I’ve just won a pig-greasing contest.

I love my kids to pieces, but I sure as hell wish I could seal them in plastic bubbles at the first sign of sickness. I’d be fun! They could roll around the house like gerbils!
