  • Appalachian Trail

A few years ago, while on a streak of otherwise very interesting Bill Bryson books, I came across his then-newly-in-paperback A Walk in the Woods, and it sparked my interest in one day hiking the Appalachian Trail.

Recently I’ve been trying to get fit, but I haven’t had any real goals to press me […]

  • Colophon

So, today I’ve added a new colophon to the site. I also— oh… —ahem—

col•o•phon n. an inscription placed at the end of a book or manuscript usually with facts relative to its production

Anyway, I also noticed that this is, officially, my 250th post. Huzzah!

    Oh, er…

huz•zah n. an expression or shout of acclaim— often used interjectionally to express joy or approbation

  • Random Dictionary Spam

A new trend in email spam is to add a couple of random words from the dictionary to the end of the subject heading, which somehow appears to trick the spam filters into thinking it’s not spam. Obviously annoying, as I’m getting more spam, but it allows for oddly entertaining subject headings, such as:

Big Natural Breasts… reappear akimbo, or
MlLFs – MlLFs – MlLFs dehydrate carnivore, or
    Trans-x-uals, Girly Boys… !!!! northerner resins

    That is all.

  • Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

After a marathon 26-hour session, this Animal Planet show is out the door. Another edit and 2-3 hours more to go. I guess I’m not going to be doing the 48 Hour Film Project this weekend after all.

Addendum: It ended up being 30 hours… minus a couple on the office couch somewhere in the middle. But, I got double pay, so I’m not going to complain. Officially, at least.

Yes, I will eventually finish the Saga of NAB 2004 (as soon as I stop working 12-16 hour days, hopefully sometime this week), but to tide you over, please accept this humble photographic preview of days five and six.

  • NAB 2004: Day Two

Woke up late, got dressed, rolled out the door, caught a cab to the Venetian, and just made it to the Apple event a few minutes before it started. They announced a TON of cool stuff, which I’m sure you can read all about on their web page. Quickly, though, so we don’t lose […]

  • NAB 2004: Day One

Woke up, and saw myself in the mirror over the bed. I’m sure that might be more interesting if my wife were with me on this trip, but individually, waking up to see my own groggy head wasn’t the most exciting experience. I had to call Kim (a.k.a. “AAl’s mom”) and thanked her for the […]
