  • Diamonds are a Geek’s Best Friend

I saw the cover of the latest issue of wired, and had to pick it up. Turns out there’s a very interesting article on the emergence of synthetic diamonds— that is, diamonds that are grown in a lab, but are physically and chemically indistinguishable from diamonds that are mined. • Illegal Art and Threadgill (and Shag)

While perusing a site about the Illegal Art exhibition (think a Mickey Mouse gas mask, an alphabet made from corporate logo letters, and a “Corporate Whore” parody of the Starbucks logo), I discovered one of the contributing artists, Threadgill, who creates some incredible artwork… very clean and clever, and reminds me in a way of another of my favorite artists, Shag.

Some amusing things of note on Threadgills pages; The Atlas Monsters in Creamy Goodness, Buzz Aldrin’s Conspiracy Smackdown and My Dictatorship. But, by all means, please visit the entire site.

  • Saturn in Alignment with Paul Hogan

Well, looks like I’ve got a buyer for the Saturn (our friendly neighborhood Airborne Express-Man). He and his brother (who is, apparently, a Honda mechanic) hame by this afternoon, looked it over, took it for a spin around the parking lot, and said they’d be back for it tomorrow afternoon. And, now that I’ve spent the remainder of the day searching for (and finding!) the title for the little beast, looks like everything’s a go.

What will I be driving now, you ask? Well, I’m finally taking over the car I “inherited” from my great uncle late last year: a 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback. This one’s an automatic (the Saturn was a 5-speed manual), so even my wife can drive it! Huzzah!
